Drama Facilitator

Drama can be a brilliant way of building team skills, aid communication and increase confidence. This is especially important at a time when 1 in 6 young people experience mental health challenges.

I use my experience as an arts producer and actress to work with children and young people to encourage playful exploration.

I like to work with devised and physical theatre, creating original stories and characters through voice and movement. I use a fun approach with games and exercises encouraging those taking part to speak out and bring their own ideas and voices into our play.

I run my own weekly Drama Club in Midsomer Norton, and often deliver drama-based activities in schools across the South West.  I'm also available to work with home education groups, and with arts organisations looking to engage with young people.

Midsomer Norton Drama Club
For 6 - 12 year old's

Midsomer Norton Drama Club is an inclusive space where we use games, activities and theatre techniques to build on confidence, learn how to work as a team, create using our imaginations, and develop good friendships. Now in our third year we've performed at the Midsomer Norton Summer Fayre and Christmas Lights Switch on.

We focus on building relationships, exploring new worlds and imaginative play. We work towards creating original performances that we share in communities around Midsomer Norton. We play games, improvise scenes and learn new skills.

Day: Mondays in term time

Venue: The Somer Centre, Midsomer Norton

Time: 4:30 - 5:30 pm (6-12 years)

School Theatre Workshops

I have worked in a range of schools across the South West, delivering sessions that focus on animating a creative curriculum.

Examples of workshops I've recently delivered include physical theatre, storytelling, puppetry, literature, willow weaving, World War 2, local area learning (the Nornen, Somerset's agricultural traditions), well-being, healthy lifestyles, emotions and identity.

I'm available to work directly with schools, to create bespoke sessions that build pupil knowledge of specific issues and subjects, or that support teachers best practice for getting the most out of a creative curriculum.

Freelance Facilitation

I regularly work with leading arts organisations across the South West on a freelance basis. Since 2021 I've delivered freelance participatory arts activity with:

  • Valley Arts

  • Wassail Theatre

  • Lifebeat

  • The Nornen Project CIC

  • Somerset Youth Theatre CIC

I have also worked in schools, with Festivals, and at holiday camps delivering fun and interactive drama and arts workshops.

I'm interested in working with other arts organisations and in promoting young people's voice & creativity on a freelance capacity.

Rachel really encouraged the children to push their drama skills beyond what they had ever done before. So much enthusiasm, skill and incredible with the children. Tim Dobson, Longvernal School
